She takes the form of a huge beast that resembles a wolf with horse-like legs, and the horns and wings of a feathery dragon. Key resides in an isylic clearing on the border of
The Forest of Pines and the dragon peaks, and frequently can be found at the pines village.
Origins
Key is believed to be the oldest of the Rhye Guardians, though her specific origins are not well known. She is celestial, part of a parthenon of which no other god is known, who settled in Rhye as a peaceful sanctuary where she was able to take up a role in the magics ecosystem.
Personality
Although Key has a wide stretching influence over weather and air, she is surprisingly timid. When strangers find their way to her cave, the large god rarely presents herself, instead choosing to hide in one of the many caves that run through the dragon peaks. Despite her fear, the Pines Elves welcome her as a frequent guest during festivals, ensuring there is always space for her to lie and observe, and large portions of well prepared food.
Role in Rhyes Ecosystem
Key keeps the peace between elves and dragons. She tends the huge pines forest and it giant animals to ensure that dragons have enough to hunt, both in terms of challenge and in terms of nutrition. The enrichments she provides prevents the dragons from hunting or harming the elves or their livestock.
Recent History
Key was the care giver of an abandoned winged rhye elf named
Jace Swifting. She raised him with nature, and nutured his curious abilities, although her timidness kept him secluded. After leaving Key's Grove, Jace revealed in social atmosphere, gaining a reputation as a socialite and charmer, his mysterious links to the Guardian's of Rhye only making him more attractive.
In the year 79, Key was reported missing by the Rhye Elves. After nearly twenty years of disapearance, the World Serpent Guild discovered her in the control of Thieflord
Thet while investigating slavers. Bound in burning chains, Key was tortured into following
Thet's orders as a mount and beast.
Thet took advantage of the undefended forest, raiding the Pines village and surrounding settlements for elves to kidnap and enslave. Once freed, Key returned to
The Forest of Pines, and began repairing the ecosystem and protecting the elves in her territory.
