The Stilted Village
The Stilted Village was a small settlement that had survived in the swamps of Hunter's Court, South of The Capital for decades. It was made up of huts built upon neat stilts made of living trees, carefully shaped as they grew. The village comprised of many homes, a village longhut, and a drained clearing in the swamp arranged in a circle.
The huts are small, though the cultivated trees that made them are beautiful. It is a strange mix of humble and elaborate. What remains of their layouts suggest they were homes, a small room of crowded pallets, with a hearth and table.
However, sometime in the past, the huts were thoroughly burnt, leaving a ruin of a settlement identifable through the root stilts and some charred floorboard. Curiously, none of the trees were hurt by the fire. This was intentional arson of the buildings. No evidence of magic nor armies has been found when looking for the cause of the blaze.
The village was home to adult and child Rhye Elves who lead a settled tribal life focused around living with the swamp. Peat provided fuel for their heart fires, to help dry off people and clothes, cook, and heat homes. The tribe wore a uniform, with colours depicting different roles and ages.
