Vocative Isle

Rimeport puts a premium on vocations, or jobs which are seen as "callings" rather than mere careers. The Rimers' natural scepticism, though, pairs that reverence with a natural suspicion of callings, so placing such "called" vocations on this large island in the centre of town is at once a pedestal and a quarantine. Thus also its semi-official nickname, The Bladders - central to any body, but able to exert its very pressing will over the hearts of men.   Here, Rimeport's great Cathedral of St Habakkuk can be found, with its mad monks and ploughshare grotesques. So also its political centre, educational college - and police headquarters.
