Secrets in the Sand

The ever shifting sands and dunes of Pirenni's vast stretches of desert can erase signs of civilization in only a few short years. In ages past, the region was home to mighty empires and wealthy cities, monumental architecture and beautiful gardens. These have all been swept away by the shifting sands, lost to memory and time. The stories of these lost cities and whatever treasures they might hide attract hundreds of treasure hunters, adventurers, amateur and professional archeologists, and even artists hoping to paint a forgotten monument. Though the vast majority never find a thing, and in fact only a few key sites have ever been discovered, nothing seems to deter those who intend to find buried gold and magical artifacts. A word to the wise - street vendors selling maps to "lost kingdoms" or offering tours to buried cities are simply conning silver from gullible tourists.

Notable Places:

  • Wandalana:
  • Oronais:
  • Saza: The great port city of Saza is built along a rocky coastline, flanked by two great hills. Though there are ports closer to both Lusia and Colladia, the vast majority of ocean travelers and goods arrive in Saza above all else. The sturdy ground the city is built upon has let it grow continually for hundreds of years, a luxury in Pirenni. The combined cool winds coming down from the mountains and in from the sea make Saza far more comfortable than its neighbors only a few miles inland. Travelers can expect to find nearly any good or luxury for purchase in the many bazaars lining the streets, and an excellent meal in the fish markets by the docks.
  • Jeva Kingdom: Once a great and mighty empire, the lost Kingdom of Jeva now lies somewhere buried in the sands of Pirenni. It was the largest regional power in the area, its strength stretching to modern Lusia and Nalendi, until disaster after disaster struck, and the people fled their once cosmopolitan cities or perished. Though many have found relics from its heyday, no one has been able to locate the city or its villages. Archeological teams attempt to corroborate maps from hundreds of years ago to modern locales, but nothing seems to quite line up. Digging crews are always hiring, if you feel a great desire to bake in the desert heat for your coin.
