Godstomb
A unique feature of the Vault Supernal, Godstombs are vast city-sized spheres of deadiron that slowly and endlessly wander through the sea of Quietus that permeates the region. They are the once-beating hearts of stars, turned cold and hard by the passage of unimaginable eons.
Ecosystem
Godstombs, as befits their name, have no biosphere to speak of. The shroud of Quietus that surrounds them makes it difficult for life to take root and their propensity to travel through fatal concentrations of the black miasma regularly wipes out any life that does, through some stroke of extraordinary life, manage to take root upon the surface.
Localized Phenomena
When godstombs enter the Vault Supernal, they become enveloped in a haze of death-aspected energy called the Quietus. This haze accompanies them wherever they go, clinging to the surface like a thin atmosphere of sorts. The concentration of Quietus can vary from place to place across the surface of the godstomb and the pattern of these variations also changes over time.
Whenever a godstomb comes within a certain distance of another, the two enormous spheres "resonate" after a fashion. The Quietus on the surface of the two godstombs roils with activity, the violence of the turbulence growing as the volume increases with every moment they spend in proximity of one another. Should they spend long enough near each other, the Quietus on their surface will begin to surge into the space between them, an effect that lingers for as long as the two godstombs remain close enough together.
