Matsu Yuuko

Yuuko is the youngest child brought home to Utaku Calus in a rash of infidelities performed by Matsu Kentaro. She, being the last, has been spared much of the fighting between her parents and idolizes and loves her father Kentaro and wants to be just like him. She does wonder why the family is less together than they should be, but her experience before this family was so horrific that she doesn't really account it much of a failure. A minor mistake that she might be able to fix with enough effort and love and flamboyant enthusiasm.
The parents pretend to get along when she's looking--just as they pretend to get along when anyone is looking, but unlike every other observer, Yuuko is gullible. She's very, very gullible.
She caught the attention of Yoritomo Yoshito, the newest Mantis Clan Champion, at Winter Court when some strange happenings were occurring due to a supernatural phenomenon. Most people forgot their experiences, but something happened that allowed Yoritomo to remember--and he was deeply infatuated with the little lion girl afterward. Moreover, she was half his size, and Yoshito found that very attractive.
She ended up kidnapped over that summer, and was on her way to be sold into slavery when the Yoritomo twins dropped in to rescue her, along with a small group they had organized. Though the rescue went a little bit wrong, and they ended up trapped in the Ghostlands for a short period of time, Yoshito made sure she was constantly supplied Jade, Coral, and Gold, to keep her soul safe.
He asked for a favor in return for putting himself and his brother at risk, and she, like an honorable lion, agreed. The favor he disclosed when they were out safely, was marriage.
Yuuko was appalled. He was a pirate--the worst of the worst. All Yoritomo were, but she had made a promise, and so she had to keep it. Her father, sensing her distress, made the courtship long, hoping she'd choose to say no over the time, but Yuuko's honor kept her bound to the marriage.
She didn't know that the whole situation was a trick.
