Matsu Kentaro

Kentaro was born to Bayushi Tadashi and Matsu Karume , the Matsu family Daimyo. He didn't get to know his mother, though, as when he was still a toddler, his mother, grandpa and gradma were all killed in an attack on the family castle while he and his father were away.   At first, when he was young, he and his father were very close. The problem was that his father had a problem. Kentaro didn't know what it was, but sometimes he would have a different personality altogether, and he would lash out. When Kentaro was 10, Tadashi shoved him away from him and he fell from the second story. While Tadashi was quick to heal him best he could, the damage was irreversible.   Kentaro knows his father doesn't want to be this way, and that he feels sorry, but that hasn't stopped his resentment. His father is sick, he knows, and he doesn't know who he is when the situations come up, he knows, but that doesn't change the harm. The only empathy he has managed for his father is through Toku Senzan, a man who visits to see his father every fall and winter when his father avoids court. This man is the closest Kentaro has ever seen to a proper father figure, and Senzan is sweet and comforting and very much in love with his dad. He can tell. He knows what that looks like, and he knows his dad is in love with this man.   Kentaro spent a lot of time around the Hantei kids and other kids around Otosan Uchi because Senzan would take him there when things got bad. He was treated like a member of the family there, and even loved when he acted out. As he grew, Kentaro also developed two very distinct personalities--the lover and the manwhore.   This came into a bit of a problem when he fell for an Utaku boy named Calus. He woo'd him and wrote him poetry, he courted him openly and with intent.   The moment he was old enough, he forced his father out of the seat of family daimyo, taking over. This was for the sake of the family was what he said on paper, but for Kentaro, there was a secondary goal: He wanted his father to go live with Senzan and for Senzan to be happy, and, in a small way, for his father to be at peace.   After he was Matsu Family Daimyo, he had the resources he needed to convince the Shogun, Utaku Naomi, to let him marry her son. He fought for the right against the traditional woman, only winning his argument by how much Calus begged her and told her that he loved him. This was a dream. He married him. He spent many years with him happy and content.   When he was named Shogun, and they were separated for long periods of time, it became a nightmare. He cheated on him. A lot. More than he knew, and he knew too many times, because children started showing up at the doorstep. Calus adopted each one of his bastards that showed up, but with each one, he grew more distant and the fighting got more intense.   There are 5 children in the Matsu household that Kentaro has bore with different women. There are probably more that didn't dare admit to cheating with the Shogun to the Matsu family daimyo. And some of his children look at him the way he looked at his father, and it breaks him up inside.
