Wesley Roberts
Captain Wesley Roberts
Wesley Roberts was the original captain of The Princely Pauper, and one of the most feared pirates of his time. His reprutation was a carefully crafted ploy, however, for he was in truth a gentle and generous man. He developed a code of honor to guide himself and his crew, and the targets of their piracy were typically the wealthy, gold-hoarding merchants whose lust for riches is never satiated - although other priates (those who Wesley would say give pirates a bad name) would sometimes find themselves targeted as well. After divying the spoils equally among himself and his crew, he would give the remaining wealth to poor harbor towns up and down the coasts of Rolara, where he became folk hero of sorts, and where the sight of his flags on the horizon was a harbinger of festivities soon to come.
He had an eye for talent, and loved to take young sailors under his wing and play the role of mentor, teaching them his honor code and everything he knew about sailing, piracy and life. One of these mentees was a young Tabaxi named Pocket Strings, who was thrilled and exhilerated by Wesley's tales of adventure on the high seas whenever he sailed into the Al Zaluman harbor. Pocket Strings one day left home to join Wesley's crew, where he took to his lessons like a fish to water.
But his tenure as captain was not without mistakes, for he failed to instill his sense of morality and honor code in his younger brother, Adred Roberts. Crystallizing this mistake was his decison to make Adred the new Captain of the Princley Pauper upon his well-earned retirement. It would seem that his family ties blinded him to Adred's true nature...
