The "original inhabitants have been called many things from Eldritch Abominations, Banished Gods, Old Ones, Outer Gods and many other things.
they were pushed back, defeated and banished from the Dimensional Planes with many of the Banished gods not surviving only 4 Main old one are know to still dweel among the dark trying to reach back to the realm.
Unfortunately many gods perished in the war with entire pantheons being shattered new pantheons formed and the balance of power was forever changed are there were more Evil and Neutral Gods then Good and thus good was always on the back foot.
