Guild Master

This title belongs to the very top leading figure of a guild. The most well known Guild Master is that of the Adventurer's Guild, but almost every guild have a Guild Master, who represents the guild and takes the major decisions of the guild, with guidance from highly ranked guild members. Guild masters are chosen by the highly ranked guild members, who might take months chosing one. Traditions between guilds regarding Guild Masters vary. Some choose a new Guild Master among highly ranked members, others never do so as that would result in a loss of power. Some guilds have well known and renowned Guild Masters, others lose their position once the outside world discover their position.

Qualifications

The Guild Master must be an experienced guild member who is well-known within the guild. For the Adventurer's Guild for example, no member below the silver Adventurer's Badge level has ever been chosen.

Requirements

Any Humanoids of Ropla are eligible, though they are typically older than 30, relatively tall, confident and loud-mouthed, simply because individuals with these skills are more easily heard, and therefore more often taken into consideration for the position.

Appointment

The new guild master is chosen by highly ranked guild members after the previous has retired voluntarily, been forced to retire or died. The appointment of a new Guild Master is a big event within the Guild and only happens a few times every generation. Depending on the type of guild, the appointment is typically part of a large festival, celebrating the coming change.

Duties

Direction and maintaining the public appearance of the guild is part of the Guild Masters duties. He, her or it must also care for members of the guild, either directly by interacting with them, or indirectly by sending lower ranked members and guild employees.

Responsibilities

Day to day operations of the guild are the responsibility of the guild master. They might have guild members or employees performing the tasks for them, but in the end they are responsible. This includes quest transfers and guild trades, as well as special guild jobs and holdings.

With the Guild Master title, an individual usually gains power, an allowance from the guild status amongst nobility.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Guild Masters might be forced into retirement if they get the guild into trouble, misrepresents he guild, or severely mistreats members. This is handled by the highly ranked members, though hesitatingly. This usually only occurs when lower ranking members are close to revolt.

Sir Paltos held the title of Guild Master of the Adventurer's Guild during the The Leviathan Crisis and is credited with the End of the Great.
