Floating City of Aarelan

The Floating City of Aarelan is an awe-inspiring sight. It appears as if an island was ripped from the earth and set aloft in the air. The bottom of the city is dotted with veins of Weaveite, which glows a bright blue and provides the primary light source for the area below the city. From the surface of Runetalras, one can see the towering peaks of temples, towers, and even a flying ship docked at a harbour.   The city is a sprawling metropolis of several miles of conjoined landmass. The city is surrounded by mountain ranges to the west and south, providing natural protection, while the North and East are bordered by the Free States and the Kingdom of Elnusari, respectively.   Throughout the city, there are teleportation circles that allow for quick transit. The architecture is a mix of grand, sweeping towers, intricate temples, and bustling marketplaces. Despite the floating city's age, the infrastructure is well-maintained and functional, with a network of roads, bridges, and canals connecting the various districts.   The city is a hub for magic users and scholars, with numerous academies, libraries, and research institutions located throughout.   The Floating City was created in 96:Contempt when the Aarelan was under siege, the Council of Nine sacrificed their lives and used the deposits of Weaveite to cause the City and surrounding area to rise up into the air and end the siege.
