Jezibaba (Spirit of Ugliness)
Jezibaba are spirits of ugliness in the Old Beliefs.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A a layer of pale skin stretches tightly over the Jezibaba's stately skeleton, emphasising her prominent bones and lack of any fat or muscle.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Jezibaba is always hungry, but refuses to eat more than a single meal a day. If forced to eat more, the Jezibaba will cough up the excess food (similar to a cat coughing up a hairball). This regurgitated food (referred to as the pellet of a Jezibaba) is used as an ingredient in some potions.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Jezibaba have beak-like noses, small pouting lips and tiny piercing eyes. Instead of hair, uneven, patchy tufts of dark green feathers grow on the top of their heads, and most Jezibaba cover this up with a silky headscarf.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Jezibaba are obsessive in their quest for beauty. They tend to have multiple piercings over their body, and they limit their food intake to achieve what they consider to be the perfect figure, but which most other species find unpleasant and creepy.
