Dangers & Hazards

Mining is a very dangerous profession. Collapsed tunnels and cave-ins are common, and Fires from overturned lanterns would spread quickly through the capillaries. The enclosed tunnels trap poisionous gas, and many underground creatures produce spores that are deadly when inhaled. The twisting tunnels are difficult to navigate, so getting lost is a real possibility.   Because of how dangerous the mines can be, the miners have developed a saying "Shubin Came To Him", which means that someone was or is in a dangerous or risky situation. Initially it started as a euphamism for mining accidents, but has since expanded across the Cherti Mountains to refer to any hazardous or reckless situation.
