Zima Family
The Zima Family are the most powerful Winter Spirits in the Old Beliefs. They are headed by Ded Moroz, also known as Grandfather Frost, who is the father of Morozko (Father Frost) and the grandfather of Snegurochka (the Snow Maiden). Ded Moroz typically appears as an old man with a long white beard and wearing a fur coat and hat, and is known for bringing gifts to children on Stary Nova with the help of a troop of reindeer, and sometimes his granddaughter.
The Zima Family are revered by the Winter Witches of the Sabrelands, who consider them to be the embodiment of the power of winter. They are believed to reside on a mountain of ice, which lies East of the Sun and West of the Moon and is said can only be climbed in special shoes.
