Long ago, there were two gods, two brothers, one was the god of light and order named Aphin one was the god of dark and chaos named Sodon, the two were builders and one day decided to make their most ambitious creation yet, a world.The two made an oath to not interfere with the world but as to make sure the world did not get destroyed the two brothers created celestials. they gained the surname Sol or Lum depending on who created them. The two brothers came into disagreement and Sodon betrayed Aphin and tried to kill him. Aphin was victorious but did not want to kill his brother, therefore he exiled him to live deep in the ocean in the world they were building. Aphin took control over all the celestials all vent well for a while ,but Sodon worked hard to escape his prison and over time corrupted some of the celestials and thus began the celestial war.

Divine Origins

the religion originated in the west and developed from the sun worshippers. the religion developed into its own after the celestial war.

Cosmological Views

the sun and the moon are the eyes of the god Aphin who watches over his creation, day and night. speaking of day and night they are brought by two celestials Enmeline-lum: the bringer of night and Arturus-sol: the bringer of day. Evat-Sol is the celestial who was corrupted by the dark one. once he was killed his blood flowed into the water and poisoned it, creating wine. The followers of this religion have pledged their souls to fight Sodon in the deep when the time comes. They made this pledge to the celestial Elyscia-lum who carry dead warriors on her wings.

Tenets of Faith

Do not kill
Do not steal
Show no disrespect
respect your elders
Pray once a day
Keep your house and yourself clean
Alcohol should only be drunk in the evening and only wine that has been cleansed or blessed shall be drunk.
No sex before marriage
No kissing before marriage
Do not worship other gods
Be kind to thoose less fortunate
Do not strike someone who have done you no harm
Do not succumb to desperation. you are one of the chosen to survive the celestial war

Those who do not follow these commandments is aiding the dark one Sodon in his escape.

Aphinists believe the ultimate sins to be:

greed
desperation
violence
alcoholism and substence abuse

Worship

everyday prayers are usually done at the temple or at a home shrine. prayer is done by sending an offering to the god or celestial by burning it. Burial tradition is usually that the body is burnt in a boat or on land. usually with weapons or special personal belongings.

Priesthood

The one who guides the faithful in this religion are priests and high priests. They can usually be distinguished because they usually wear the same ceremonial robes. some are for everyday and some are more elaborate. most of the priests wear the robes out and about people as to not get into trouble. cause all know committing a crime against a priest is a sure way to go to the deep.

Granted Divine Powers

Priests and warriors pledged to the religion are known to use light essence manipulation. Light magic is seen as the weapons of celestials and is holy. All priests must practice it and those born with such powers are taken into the church.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The church of Aphin has heavy influence on the politics in Larean, where it is a state religion. The King is not allowed to make laws that breaks the teachings of the church.
