The Living Pool
Filled with a mysterious amber substance called the Serpent's Extract, the Living Pool seals with a pane of glass over the surface. The substance then crystalizes, dramatically slowing the aging process, depending on how much energy is available. It is designed for one person, but is sizable enough for two.
The Island Controls
The first control from the left is a map of the island that monitors the productivity of the solar energy orbs and oxygen traps that keep the island and its population alive.
The center left control is a lever that raises the island or lowers it.
The center right control is an pressure-and-elevation-sensitive hourglass that functions as the float in a float tank. When the island sinks below the surface, it flips and signals the solar energy orbs to switch from collecting energy to dispensing it.
The last control on the right is a timer which counts down the 130 years between the kandras' mating seasons, waking the caretaker to raise the island.
