Flower Motifs in Goat Racing
For more of the colour symbolism, see: Faren colour associations.
The main four teams in the sport of Goat racing are symbolised by their official flowers, used in all promotional material.
Blue is the traditional colour of the divine, fitting the Blue team, who have attributed their success to favour of the gods. They are one of the two traditionalist teams, and have often been arguing for the sanctity of ancient traditions in the sport, and against changes in the rule system. Their largest funding has usually come from the clerical and wealthy trader classes.
Purple coulour is the symbol of majesty, but more than that the purple thistle plant was chosen for its perseverance of growing in the harsh highlands of Arensande, where the team originates from.
The Purples have often been the underdogs of the competition, racing against the two larger and better funded teams, but have found success with hard training and clever innovations. The fans of the Purples often come from the poorer classes, or factions opposing the traditionalist senatorial and clerical classes.
The plant is a common symbol of love and youthful vigour. It is a fitting symbol for the Green Team, who have often gained popularity more based on the good looks of their riders, rather than actual success in the races.
The Yellows - Yellow Rose
Yellow is known as the colour of wisdom, and is usually worn by the members of the Senate, the ruling political class. In fact the senators have traditionally been the main funders of the Yellows. The Blues - Columbine
