Festival of Ioun

A celebration of the Wishmaker Ioun. the Knowing Mentor from Spring 7 to Spring 14 on even years.

History

In keeping with tradition, both Sooryapesh and Rakavidha cease military activity during the Festival of Ioun. However, both compete fiercely to attract more scholars to their city during the Festival period so that they may gain an edge over the other.

Observance

The Festival of Ioun fell out of favor among most communities centuries ago, but has recently been revived as a city-wide holiday in Sooryapesh and Rakavidha. It is a weeklong period for scientists, historians, artists, and scholars of all kinds to reflect on the blessing of knowledge and how sharing knowledge advances civilization forward. Businesses close, military activity ceases, and taverns offer hospitality for free, all in the name of encouraging visitors and residents to share knowledge with one another.
The Elven Community of Knowledge and Progress hosts a bi-annual meeting with its members in Sooryapesh during the Festival.
