Palm Caves
An unknown people have walked these passageways for thousands of years. While many cave walls have been smoothed by time and erosion, these walls are different. There is a clear line at about shoulder height that has been worn smooth by the gentle touch of a hand. Geologically minded folks would be able to tell that the acidity of touch is part of what makes these smoothed cave walls so distinctive.
If one were to follow this labyrinth of interlocking and intertwining cave passages without taking their hand off the wall it will lead them through. But where two is determined by which hand touches the wall.
Doing so is like a ritual. It feels too sanctified here to speak. The quiet and the feel of the wall are almost holy here. So much so that this ground is Consecrated. Madness is suppressed while following the way.
Localized Phenomena
These caves seem in many ways to be a maze. It is easy for anyone to get lost here, all sense of direction is easily lost here. The walls, worn smooth by thousands of years of touch, are abstract and confusing. Anyone who tries to navigate by their wits and knowledge will find themselves lost.
By touching your bare hand to the wall as you walk, you may follow the memories that have been suffused into the stone. To follow a path is to be in tune with the emotion of the place. Different feelings and memories of specific needs will lead you through these caves in a different path. When you touch your hand to the wall, you will automatically find a path someone else has taken. Your current emotional state will connect you to the memory of someone who came before carrying the same emotional resonance. As you walk, you remember the way, but only so long as you keep your hand to the wall, following along the groove already smoothed by those who came before.
