New moon chorus and other traditions of the Tide Queen
The Tide Queen is a spirit of the moon with a widespred following of many mer and even some humans. The for most rite in her honor is singing of what you've seen on new moons where her face is fully veiled.
Clerics and other devotes, often including expecting parents gather in a group if possible under the new moon for the new moon chorus.
They sing songs of their surroundings and their beauty while dancing in the starlight. It is common to wear accessories of opal and pearl if possible but if not any pale material will do as long as it is handled with care and reverence. This rite is one of the most sacred and it is expected that you sing or dance for at least several minutes if you are one of her devoted. Anything else is rude. Often particularly dedicated individuals will write an apology note that a friend will read out under the new moon if they are particularly ill. This is one of the Tide Queen's universal rites that all sects following her practice
Another common tradition among followers of the Tide Queen is to trade pale moonlight accessories in cycles, this most commonly includes the accessories worn during the new moon chorus but sometimes extends to day to day wear as well. This is in reference to the moon phases and the cycles of the currents and tides.
Finally a more specific practice that has become more common since the declaration of Blue moon Atoll as a sacred land to the Tide Queen is birth feasts.
The first Lady/Lord of the Lagoon popularized the before then obscure tradition of holding a feast in honor of the Tide Queen at a kit's birth.
The menu need not be extensive or fancy only enough to designate a special occasion and give thanks to the Tide Queen for favorable conditions.
