History
The item is of Incan design, which would date it to the 15th century.

The Incan Empire was the largest in pre-Columbian America and rose from the Peruvian highlands. From 1438 to 1533, the Incas incorporated a large portion of western South America, centered on the Andean Mountains, using conquest and peaceful assimilation. At its largest, the empire joined Peru with several other nations along the coastline. The Spanish began the conquest of the Inca Empire in 1532 and by 1572, the last Inca state was fully conquered.
Significance
This was one of two items presented by Augustus Larkin in the Bar Cordano in Lima, Peru as evidence of a greather treasure to be found in the Peruvian Highlands.
