Clearian Schism

Within the great human kingdom of Kingdom of Elow the Church of the Allfather had grown in steady power until it rivaled even the king in political power, with some going so far as to even say the young king, Osmond II, at the time was merely a puppet of Archbishop Indreth Alorn. This placed increasing strain on the kingdom until in 735DR, with the approval of the king the royal guard attempted to arrest the Archbishop. Fleeing Belde, the Archbishop and the nobles loyal to him eventually settled in Curnyadge where he called the holy paladins to a crusade to root out the evil of the crown. Having taken a large portion of Elow's knights and motivated by their zeal the new religious order waged and long and bloody war, that lasted over a century with shifting gains on both sides and formed the modern borders between Clearia and Elow.
