Durnhalla Mountains

Meaning 'heaven' or 'home' in ancient Dwarvish, the Durnhalla mountains have stood longer than time. Legend states that the powerful Dwarves of old delved deep into the earth, and hollowed out the entirety of the underworld. After discovering nothing but death and fire below the ground, they built Durnhalla far above, in an attempt to reach the sky. Rich in gold, silver, copper, iron, and mithril, the mountains share their bounty with any wise enough to harvest it. The mountains hide many secrets, armies worth of blood, and riches to feed the world's lust for gold thousands of years into the future.

Geography

Containing three main passes, The Durnhalla mountains stretch across the thinnest part of the great continent, dividing is in a diagonal south-western line. Travel across the mountains can only be obtained in the summer through the Kazaram-Sternham pass, the Sil pass, or the Dwarvenholm pass, each bearing ancient and secret Dwarvish names, they are referenced by the cities that stand closest to their mighty roads. the passes are regularly blocked throughout the winter, except for the Sil pass, which may reliably be used year round.   The city of Kelv lies within the mountains, closer to the southern side but blocked by great mountains. Rumor tells of a fourth pass, within the mountains connecting Kelv to the southern plains below.
