Kazaram

The city of Kazaram, an ancient Dwarven stronghold. Kazaram stands at the northeastern edge of the Durnhalla mountains, near the sea. The capital of Dwarvenkind for thousands of years, Kazaram has lived through hundreds of crises, and never been taken. thousands of Dwaves live there in peace, mostly working in the expansive iron or mithril industry abundant in the surrounding mountains. Before humans arrived in Saramoth, no other species had ever willingly set foot in Kazaram.   In modern times the Dwarves of Kazaram are angry, their armies have been defeated time and time again by the humans, and Westerel today seeks to oppress them even more. They have been granted citizenship in Toclomar, but their rights on the northern side of the mountains are ever lessening.   Change is coming. Many Dwarves are radicalizing again, promising to reclaim Dwarven glory, and rights they lost decades ago. They blame the humans, and mostly: the Wizardry.

Demographics

88% Dwarven, 11% Human.

Government

Kazaram is ruled by a mayor, who is elected every 3 years.   The mayoral staff is approx. 16 men, chosen by the mayor.

Defences

Kazaram lies in between to enormous mountains, the feet of which reach around the very walls of the city. Many hidden watchtowers lie in on the mountain peaks, and there are rumors of secret exits and entrances to the city, hidden deep under the earth.

Industry & Trade

Kazaram trades in Iron and Mithril. The export of Mithril has been banned to the human kingdoms, but the dwarves have a thriving trade nonetheless. The craftdwarfship of Kazaram is unparalleled, and cannot be competed with. The strongest weapons, the most beautiful jewelry, the best machinery, all come from Kazaram.

Infrastructure

Kazaram's enormous mines are large enough to hold all of its residents, and thousands more besides. Dwarves could get lost down in the depths, and never be found again.

Assets

It is rumored that the great storehouses beneath the Ancient Dwarven king's halls hold enormous stores of food, enough to feed the Dwarven empire for years if necessary. The Dwarves free supply of Iron, as well as Mithril, mean that Kazaram could be almost completely impenetrable in case of a siege.

History

Legend says, Kazaram was founded ~2400 years ago, by the great Dwarven king of old, whose very name is forgotten. It is said that the Great king was killed by a dragon, who was defeated by his illustrious son. The line of Kings was broken by the ever-vile elves, who cursed the dwarves to forget even the names of their great kings. Since the Great Magic War, the Dwarves have been oppressed and beaten-down by the humans and goblins for an eternity. Their mountains have been defiled, their warriors led into forsaken battles, and abandoned to slaughter. Unfair treaties have limited the liberty of many dwarves.

Kazaram stands at the northeastern edge of the Durnhalla mountains, near the sea.
