Return of the King

A hundred years ago, the line of kings failed, and Saramoth's great lands were torn in two, ruled by weaklings or monsters. Today the Humans of these nations yearn for the return of their ancient kings, and the golden age of strong leadership, and glory for humankind.   Some tales tell of an heir to the last great king, a son of Earlton the uncrowned, who hid in secret when his father fell, and may survive to this day. After the last battle of the Great war, the King's crown was never recovered. And some say it left the 'king' Marothsa (14th) and journeyed to Marothsa's true heirs, who still posses it in exile.

Summary

Prince Earlton is said to have married and had a child or children during his extended exile in hobbiton before the Great war. Rumors say that the king married and had a child or children during this time. He must have told them to stay in hiding in Hobbiton when he left for the King's court, in case he failed to preserve Saramoth's unity. He failed, and therefore the children would have hid. It is possible they still hide, either afraid of showing themselves to the world, or unable to prove their heritage.

Historical Basis

After he was disinherited by his father, Prince Earlton spent 9 years in Hobbiton with an old tutor of his, and his time there has not been documented. It is possible that he married and had children while in exile there. The prince later returned alone to the King's court upon the death of his father in 508, but never returned to Hobbiton again.

Variations & Mutation

Some say that prince Earlton married a hobbit, the daughter of his old tutor, and his children would therefore not be eligible for the throne.

Cultural Reception

The people of Toclomar and Westerel yearn for the legends to be true, as their faith in governments has been slowly diminishing for years. Toclomar and Westerel control their respective territories with relative ease, but cannot inspire the sort of loyalty or passion that the ancient kings earned.
