Borderlander gnomes
Gnomes are not common in the Borderland but they are not total strangers.
Gnomes make up about 5% of the population of most civilized lands in Scarterra. They only make up 2% or 3% of the Border Baronies Region which is already sparsely populated.
Borderlander gnomes are especially common in Dragon Springs Barony, the Barony of Tollmore, and the Barony of Bats
The Border Baronies are a cosmopolitan place, so many Borderlander gnomes fall into their natural role as middlemen between groups that barely tolerate each other.
Like most Borderlanders of other races. Borderlander gnomes are often self-reliant jack-of-all-trades sorts.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
Culture and cultural heritage
Shared customary codes and values
Borderlander gnomes put more emphasis on honing their physical and even combat abilities than most other gnomes.
Like both the Borderlander humans and nearby dwarves, Borderlander gnomes have a strong crafting tradition, especially the Borderlander National Industry of woodworking.
Common Etiquette rules
Borderlands gnomes are good at reading social cues as any gnome but they gravitate towards blunt honesty relative to other gnomes.
Common Dress code
Like the humans and others around them, Borderlander gnomes tend to dress practically for the elements with little to no thought about fashion or self expression.
Foods & Cuisine
Like most of the others Borderlanders, Borderlander gnomes are not picky eaters. They are locally famous for their skills at foraging herbs and mushrooms and other things to dress up otherwise boring local food.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Both male and female gnomes find tall strong partners especially attractive. While this is hardly unusual for humans, this is not commonly sought after in most other gnome communities.
