The chalice is said to have the power to cure illnesses and, if filled with water from the Nymph's source, can prolong the life of those who drink from the chalice. Legend has it that the chalice was given to the cathedral by a spirit sent by the deities to bring comfort and healing to the people of Valenor during a devastating epidemic.
