Stewart's Room

All is neat and clean. Gray-blue everything with royal navy accents. Monotone but not drab. Various collections of books, bits, and baubles file seamlessly into strategically placed shelves. Well-furnished but not cluttered. Evenly spaced posters neatly line walls. Modern yet nostalgic. Lingering hints of floral freshener emanate from a half-full plug-in. Artificial but not overbearing. Gentle breezes drift through the apartment's lone window, quietly rustling thin curtains. Calm yet curious. Steady ticking from an unseen clock beats in time with muted sounds hissing from the headphones of an abandoned portable music player resting upon a neatly made bed. Silent serenity...

Design

There is a sleek and modern feel to the room, though it somehow also gives off a quaint, classic vibe. The color scheme, like all unaltered Greenhouse dorms, channels muted blues and soft grays. All plush materials (curtains, covers, carpets, couches, beanbags, rugs and the like) are a royal navy, while most hard surfaces (ceilings, hardwood, marble tiles, walls, etc.) are a foggy dimpse.

Entries

The apartment only has one entrance door. There is also one window that is wide and tall enough for Stewart to sit in. Sometimes, he can be seen perched on the ledge, dangling his feet and gazing into the distance.
Stewart tumbled into his dorm, collapsing onto the bed as thoughts swirled and tumbled around in his mind. The room was too quiet. He needed to breathe. Rushing over, he flung open the window and leaned out. The cool air felt good on his face and arms, momentarily calming his brain. Inhaling deep, he shifted to sit upon the sil and peered down with a faint smile. Before long, he found his legs dangling wistfully. Clouds drifted through the dimming sky as the sun set somewhere in the West he couldn't quite view from here. Stewart leaned against the frame, watching the last golden rays paint the campus below.

Contents & Furnishings

The one-room apartment is very minimalistic when it comes to furniture. A neatly made bed and a desk with a wooden chair stand in the corner by the window. A few bookshelves, drawer chests, and display cabinets surround a beanbag and a television set in the main area. There is also a small kitchenette and a door that leads to a miniature bathroom where a toilet, a sink, and a shower can be found.

Valuables

Stewart collects several books, movies, and action figures, along with other memorabilia. Many of these things are neatly stored in boxes in the closet, under the bed, or tucked away in drawers, but some of it is displayed openly on shelves in a tidy fashion that fits with the overal decor and vibe of the apartment.

Hazards & Traps

All Junior Sprout dorms in the The Greenhouse are equipped with alarm mechanisms, locks, and surveilance cameras. In addition to these things, Stewart has implemented a couple of his own alterations to the place, including secret compartments, hiding spots, and other tricks that may or may not interfere with W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.'s monitoring systems.

Alterations

When he first moved in, Stewart knew he wanted to add his own personal touch to the place. Maintaining the original neatness and color scheme, Stewart brought in some of his own books, posters, action figures, and other collectibles to display.

Commander McCox gives newbies the rundown:   That kid Princely...he's got a lot going on. He has a lot of energy. He's really talkative. He's super optimistic. And, he practically idolizes Elsewood. Still, there's a whole lot many people don't know about him. I've read some of his file and even the one I have access to is abridged. I can't share much, but what I'll say is, I know it may seem weird, but he finds solace and comfort here at W.I.L.L.O.W.I.S.P.. Despite how mysterious, dangerous, and, admittedly, outright ominous this agency can be at times, Princely really likes it here. Sometimes, he acts like he never wants to leave. He's said before, he wants this to be his life. Whatever his life shapes up to be, wherever he spends it, I hope its a good one. He's a good kid with a whole lotta heart, determination, and potential.

Some very evocative prose at the start! And, nicely done— you managed to write so much more than I think most could about a dorm room!

I always forget you can use the building template for rooms and apartments...   Nice article! It sounds like a great place for Stewart to relax. I like the quotes with prose.

Lilliana Casper   I don't comment much, but I love reading your articles! Please check out my worlds, Jerde and Tread of Darkness.
