Hogawa
The more western of the two central rivers that run south from the Redwind Mountains and feed into Lake Kohu. It forms the western boundary of Hiro-On. Notable settlements along it's shores include Dokage.
The name comes from the Shudani words ho (meaning north) and gawa (meaning river).
The Hogawa is wider and meanders more than the Nigawa, making the current less strong in most places. This makes tacking side to side in order to travel north against the current possible at all times of the year, even the months where this is difficult or impossible on the Nigawa.
The surface of the northern most part of the river still freezes in some places, but usually not so bad that it can't be broken up to allow for continued travel. This slows transportation during the Spirit Moon and Chill Moon, but never cuts it off completely.
