Pavel is currently acting as a lord in waiting to Baejan Taras Shiroko, a position he has held since mid-1070, soon after his ruler's coronation. Before him, his father, Irer Tirai, served as a lord in waiting to both Yakiv Shiroko and later, Andriy Shiroko. However, when Taras ascended, it was decided that a person closer to the emperor's age would be a better fit for a companion and so Irer asked to retire.
Taras granted him retirement mostly due to his distrust of anyone who worked closely with his predecessor. Pavel has tried to distance himself from his father when close to Taras in order to avoid the negative connotations that Andriy has with him.
His duties include waiting on the emperor during private meals (Erasure as well, but Pavel rarely does so), assisting in the morning dressing ritual, keeping Taras’s appointments organized, and generally acting as a companion. The latter duty is difficult given his lord’s general distrust of others. It also makes him a close target for abuse as Taras grows more violent. The two have been lovers at different points, often on the Kovyioka and Pavel sees the acts more as part of his ‘companion’ role than an actual relationship. His duties often overlap with Yan Wari's and they work together very well to keep their ruler stable as much as possible in their positions, although their has work become harder as the years wear on.
