Oh, the gods.
As in many worlds, the gods of Selestya are extravagant representations of the people they supposedly care for (or abuse, as the case may be) - superheroes, if you will, in the most literal sense. There are 24 primary/actual gods, who were once just folks like you and me, but have been promoted by the Forces, when they were still around. Each god bears a symbol and these symbols have yet to be deciphered, but hey, they bestow god-like power, so the gods can just do what they do.
Right?
A few notes
Selestya is a polytheistic world, with four or five main
religions (depending on who you ask), a few cults (again...), and then just simple spirituality. What this means is that each god may be worshipped my many different kinds of priests, and won't be the only god a priest or a segment of the population worship. Polytheistic.
Each god will have information and history, including the religions that worship them, and the domains they manage. They have assumed these domains from their own background and the curcumstances by which they obtained their goddhood and symbol.
