Nimbus
Nimbus is the second planet from the star Adera and is the homeworld of the Scyll. It is known for being incredibly remote due to its proximity to the Galactic Core. The sky is a very pale blue and the surface is mostly covered by thick clouds, save for the mountain ranges that the Scyll inhabit.
Geography
Due to both the intense heat from Adera and the thicker atmosphere of the planet, as well as some interference from the Kutaufi, most of Nimbus is covered by ever-turbulent weather, whether that be wind, rain, or snow. The lower elevations of the planet are almost entirely overrun by Demons, and the severity of the storms is supposedly a measure by the Counsela to keep them at bay. As a result, most Scyll have moved to the tops of mountains to be above the clouds. The exact kind of storm differs by biome, for example, deserts have sandstorms while tundras have snowstorms instead.
There are six distinct mountain chains, each of which is its own sovereign entity. These regions are (from largest to smallest in area) Kiele , Taikle, Niere, Luzie, Tachae and Yashe.
Fauna & Flora
Due to the yellow-white light from Adera, plants on Nimbus are colored a navy-blue to absorb the light.
Hashre:
The hashre bug is a pest native to Nimbus. It is similar in appearance to an Earth silkworm, but on the back tip of its abdomen is a flower-like structure that helps it soar on Nimbus’s strong winds. The bugs are explosive breeders and have a ravenous appetite, destroying fields of crops within days, then catching the winds to soar away once all the food is gone.Tufa:
Tufa are lizard-like creatures native to the planet of Nimbus. Originally bred as pest hunters, they are still popular pets among many Scyll. Anatomy: The head of a tufa has a conical shape, slightly sloped backwards. It has two large, bulging eyes, one on either side of its head, which they can control with amazing precision. Its mouth is at the very tip of its chin, making it hard to see unless the tufa tilts its head back. A tufa’s abdomen is covered in smooth black skin. They have two arms and two hands with three fingers and opposable thumbs on each one. A tufa’s thorax is shaped like a skirt, or an upside down flower depending on who you ask. Using the muscles within the “skirt”, a tufa can control its movements on the air currents, and even gain height (albeit with some difficulty), when not many winds are present. Diet: A tufa’s diet consists almost exclusively of various kinds of insects and pests, which it is able to catch with relative ease thanks to its long, sticky tongue. Farmers will often let tufas simply float about their fields so they will eat the bugs that would otherwise harm the crops.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
