The Eldeen Reaches
Throughout the chaos and panic of The Last War, Aundair busied itself with the threats to the east and south, paying little attention to its own westerly province. Such an oversight was soon proven folly when banditry and other problems soon engulfed Aundair’s agricultural heartland, The Eldeen Reaches. It is to the citizens of the Towering Woods; Elves, Elds and other Feyfolk that the local lords of the Eldeen Reaches turned when their cries went unanswered. Aundarians would be wrong to say it was a hasty, spur of the moment, decision made in the heat of war and crisis however. The Eldeen Reaches had long been growing apart from the rule of Fairhaven. Fey influence runs deep. Most lords have some elven blood in them and a lot of locals also have some fey ancestry resulting in more than a few being born as what has come to be known as a “shifter”. The ridicule and scorn from Aundeir is as much a cause for The Eldeen Reaches secession as the troubles and tribulation of War.
Whilst this declaration was formally recognised in The Thronehold Concord, it has done little to quell the young nation’s fear that the Aundarian crown will soon return to take back the land it lost. For now though, The Farm Lords do what they can to help their country grow, turning a great profit from every harvest.
Within the Towering Woods rests the great elven capital of Greenheart. The elves of Greenheart are rather unwilling to get muddled in human affairs and were actually disappointed in the Eldeen Reaches decision to split from Aundair, only because of the attention and suspicion that it drew their way.
