Duties
Responsible for inspecting buildings to ensure they are up to fire control standards. Detect possible fire hazards and issue warnings if buildings are not in compliance.
Responsibilities
Conduct onsite inspections of buildings and structures to identify potential fire hazards and ensure they are equipped with working fire control equipment, including fire extinguishers. Communicate violations and recommended actions to building owners. Serve condemnation notices when fire code violations are not corrected.
Conduct fire drills for municipal properties and evaluate those drills.
Determine causes of fire. Collect and prepare evidence and present it in court if necessary.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Fire Inspectors can only be dismissed by recommendation of the Fire Chief to the city council.
