Pubs and Taverns in Alham
The city of Alham and the surrounding area is full of public rooms, taverns, inns, and other places providing food or both food and accommodations. Rooms are provided to travelers, most commonly merchants but also farmers or artisans coming into the city to sell or buy, and food is widely available at good prices.
Many households rely upon taverns and public rooms' kitchens as much as their own kitchens, and it is common for meals to be ordered and even delivered to homes which can afford it. This is more common in households without a dedicated homekeeper or housekeeping servant, such as those belonging to mages in The Great Circle. It is far more profitable for a mage to spend time in the workroom than baking bread.
Likewise, traditional treats for special observances, such as the Founding Festival or Fortunauguro, are made in great quantity at public houses and sold for consumption at home.
Street food is also popular in Alham, often sold in booths or from carts, and is both tasty and very affordable.
Some establishments of note:
The Merry Spirit is named for a mythical wish-granting figure, the Wishing Spirit. The Merry Goat The Hawking Babe features a sign with, somewhat contrary to what its name might indicate, a painted raptor bearing a chubby infant on its back. Its proximity to the Naziar and The Wheel make it a common stop for mages, both of the Circle and grey mages hoping to be. @The Rollicking Wyvern The Two Sisters is an inn on the road outside of Alham. Its sign might be more appropriate for a brothel, but the inn itself is less dissolute than its sign suggests.Other Establishments
The Vandogan's Head is found in Flerinz, in The Wakari Coast .
