Black Wind

The Black Wind is the name given to whispers and voices that seem to leap unbidden into the minds of mortal creatures. Scholars are unsure what the source of the Wind is, but many of the common folk are certain that it is the foul voice of the Devourer. Those who can hear the Wind say that it the whisperer has dozens—even hundreds—of names. Some of them even claim that the source isn't even a creature, but some primal force in the universe. Regardless of it's origin, it is clear that exposure to the Wind is dangerous.

Localization

Observations made by priests of the Gazel Ministry seem to indicate that people who undergo great amounts of shock, stress or trauma are more likely to hear the Black Wind.
Prolonged exposure to the Black Wind is known to cause its victims to become afflicted with the Mark.
