The Crowning of High Queen Etissa Fae’anora

High Queen Etissa, later known as the “Queen of Tears”, was the last of the royal rulers of the Elves and ruled over the Elven nations through the Elven civil war until her death during the fall of Iflion. Due to the presence of such clear records, as well as the importance of her crowning, her crowning is used as a year 0, with times before marked with BC (before coronation), and times after with AC (after coronation).

    The Fall of Iflion
    Disaster / Destruction

By the year 1E 699, the civil war between the dark elven alliance and the United Elven Nations had been in a stalemate for nearly 150 years with neither side being able to achieve any significant victory. The Dark Elven alliance used a powerful new living mechanical soldier, created by the Valk to spearhead a bold surprise attack on the capital city of Iflion. With savage swiftness the Drow and Valk slaughtered the residents of Iflion, ultimately ransacking and then burning the city to ashes, including the mythical World Tree, a gift to the Elven people from the Goddess... For this reason above all others, the Drow are hated and killed on site by Sun or Moon elves today. The loss of Iflion, the greatest of the Elven cities, was a terrible blow to the people of the Elven nations and represented a dark turning point in the war. From this point the Elven nations faced numerous losses on the field of battle and more cities would follow in Iflion’s path of destruction.

    The disappearance of the Valk
    Extinction

In the year 1E 772, With the war decidedly in the favor of the Dark Alliance, the Drow lost all contact with their Valk allies. Emissaries sent to Valk cities either did not return or of the few that did, they reported that there was no sign of life within the cities though their machines and other inventions were still operating normally. No one knows what happened to the Valk but it is known that all of them, down to the very last child, vanished on the same day in the year 1E 772. Without the Valk’s mechanical soldiers and technomancer weaponry, the Drow could no longer hold on to their advantage and the war began to quickly swing in favor of the Elven Nations.

    The Battle of Undersiege
    Era beginning/end

Bolstered by new alliances with the Dragonkin and human kingdoms, the remaining Sun, Wood, and Moon Elves had successfully pushed back the Drow wholly to the sinister hidden lands of the Underdark. The leaders of the Elven nations, filled with grief fueled rage at the near destruction of their people and thirsting for vengeance, mounted an offensive into the Underdark itself - the very home of the Drow. For five years they battled their way through the blackened tunnels and caverns of the Underdark until they march upon the capital city of the Drow, Ulfshein Dyer. The battle was known on the surface as the battle of Undersiege and resulted in the surface forces capturing the city, and using the altar to Llolth to summon her to the material plane to stand trail before the other Elven deities. Llolth was exiled and stripped of much of her divine power. The Drow ended the war and hid among their other cities deeper within the Underdark to avoid any further retribution from the surface forces. There, they have remained nursing their savage grudge against their Elven kin and all creatures that live on the surface and gaze upon the sun.
