Physical Description

Special abilities

Peak Human Physical Conditioning: Shang-Chi is an Olympic-level athlete and gymnast.   Meditation: Shang-Chi is a master of meditation and relaxation techniques. He can enter a trance-like state to ignore pain and slow his heart rate.   Master Martial Artist: Shang-Chi is a master of K'un-Lun's martial arts, and is proficient in many of Earth's martial arts, including but not limited to: Kunlunquan, Shaolinquan, Fujian White Crane, Judo, Aikido, Wing Chun, Ninjutsu, Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, and even loose street fighting tactics. He is also skilled in unique chi based techniques, such as the "Drunken style" that masks him from such things as Spider-Man's Spider-Sense. The Iron Fist is trained to be a "Living Weapon," making them one of the best martial artists in the world. Shang-Chi also fought and holds notable victories over Task Master, Batroc, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Luke Cage. He also possesses infinite ways to kill a man.   Weapons Master: He has been trained in the use of almost all martial arts weapons.   Nervous System Control: Shang-Chi has near-complete control over his nervous system, enabling him to deaden himself to pain, but not during a fight, as it takes a lot of concentration. He can also resist the effects of drugs or poisons, slow down the rate at which he bleeds, as well as is able pass lie detector tests.   Pressure Point Locator: Shang-Chi can locate different pressure points on a human's body to incapacitate, paralyze, severely injure, or kill a person. He has shown himself to be capable of landing pressure point attacks on the likes of Spider-Man.   Master Acrobat: Shang-Chi is an extremely skilled acrobat capable of many difficult feats.   Multilingual: He can speak fluent in K'un-Lun, English, Chinese, and has a limited vocabulary in Japanese.   Physical Strength: Shang-Chi possesses the strength of an Olympic-level athlete with intensive and regular exercise. He is able to press lift approximately 300 pounds; however, by harnessing the chi of Shou-Lao, Iron Fist could initially increase his strength to a maximum of lifting 800 lbs. Chi-Enhanced Physiology: Shang-Chi possesses the power to harness the mystical spiritual energy, or chi, as a result of having defeated Shou-Lao the Undying in combat. After he plunged his fists into the dragon's molten heart, absorbing its chi, Shang-Chi gained the power of the Iron Fist, allowing him to focus his chi and enhance his natural abilities to extraordinary levels, thus branding himself with the dragon's mark on his chest. Each Iron Fist throughout history has utilized the chi of Shou-Lao in different ways.   Chi Augmentation: Through concentration, Shang-Chi can harness his spiritual energy, or chi, to augment his physical and mental capabilities to enhanced levels. He initially could augment his physical prowess to the non-superhuman level of the finest possible human specimen; however, after further study with the Book of the Iron Fist, he has since reached truly superhuman levels of physical enhancement. It was stated his sense of self has grown ten thousandfold and his capabilities now possess infinite depth. He tires from using his chi, but is now capable of using his powers for greater tasks, such as destroying a train with the iron fist punch as it collided with his attack at full speed, healing himself from several external injuries, and detoxifying unwittingly ingested poison in his body with his chi.   Iron Fist Punch: By summoning his chi and focusing it into his hand, Shang-Chi can draw upon the superhuman energy derived from the heart of the mystic serpent Shou-Lao, and make his fist inhumanly powerful, as well as superhumanly resistant to injury and pain on a superhuman scale. This "Iron Fist" technique does not involve a physical transformation of any kind, simply a psychic channeling of concentrated natural energy. With his fist in this state, Shang-Chi can shatter wood and brick, rip through steel, and punch his opponents with extraordinary concussive force without sustaining an injury to himself. The force of this technique has rendered incredibly durable superhumans such as shatter Scorpion's tail, destroy Thunderball's Ball and Chain, as well as, punch through Ch'i Lin, who was barely affected by punches to the head from Luke Cage. The act of summoning and using his chi for the Iron Fist technique mentally drains him after long periods of use.   Peak Human Strength: Typically, Shang-Chi possesses the pinnacle physical strength of a human man of his particular age, height, and build that engages in intense regular exercise. He possesses the peak level of strength a human can reach without being considered superhuman. With the use of his spiritual energy, Shang-Chi is capable of augmenting his strength to incredible superhuman levels which limits are unknown, but he was able to go toe to toe with a being who easily manhandled the likes of Luke Cage.   Peak Human Stamina: Shang-Chi's musculature is enhanced to generate less fatigue toxins than the musculature of normal humans. He can exert himself physically at peak capacity for over an hour before fatigue begins to impair him.   Peak Human Agility: Shang-Chi's natural agility, balance, and bodily coordination are as honed as is humanly possible.   Chi-Enhanced Speed: Shang-Chi is capable of running and moving at great speeds and is as naturally as fast as a human can be without being considered superhuman. Without the use of chi, he can run up to 35 mph. Shang-Chi can use his spiritual energy to augment his speed to superhuman. Chi-Enhanced Reflexes: Shang-Chi's reaction time is enhanced to the point where it could be considered superhuman. His reflexes are so efficient that he can dodge point blank gun fire, catch arrows in mid flight, and has even been capable of snatching and tagging bullets out of the air, etc.   Chi-Enhanced Durability: The tissues of Shang-Chi's body are harder than those of other humans. While still vulnerable to physical injury, Shang-Chi is able to use his spiritual energy to augment his durability to vast superhuman levels. Through focus and meditation, Shang-Chi can sustain himself for extended periods of time in extreme temperature environments. He was even able to strike a train and survive the impact at point-blank range, without any sign of harm.   Energy Absorption: At times, Shang-Chi has absorbed energy directed at himself and channeled it to augment his own power. Environmental Adaptation: His entire body is oriented to combat, enabling him to adapt to any environment with minimal exposure.   Chi-Enhanced Senses: Shang-Chi's awareness has increased to new levels, though to what level it is unclear. His senses are so great he can hear the sweat running down the cheek of a person in another room, and even with his back turned he is able to sense when a complete stranger is going to strike before they actually do. He also has unusually keen eyesight, but it is unclear if it extends to a superhuman level.   Empathy: Shang-Chi has the ability to sense and read the emotions, feelings, and intentions of people and animals, as well as broadcast his own feelings in order to influence other people and/or animals emotions psionically.   Chi-Enhanced Healing: If he sustains injury or illness, Shang-Chi can focus his chi for the purposes of healing his injuries. While being trained by the monks at Kun-Lun, Shang-Chi was taught that "the Iron Fist was not originally a weapon, but a tool used for healing." By focusing enough he can even purge his own body of poison; however, Shang-Chi experienced great pain in the process. Shang-Chi can also channel this energy into other people, allowing them to heal more efficiently as well.

Personal history

Born to S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #5063: Xu WenWu/ The Mandarin {Deceased} and Ying Li, Shang-Chi was raised as an assassin for his father's organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #121: The Ten Rings {Organization} . Trained in every form of martial arts in the known world, Shang-Chi was a living weapon used by his father to carry out assassinations in his name. S.H.I.E.L.D. first became aware of him after the assassination of a hit man, Bryce Sudeikis. S.H.I.E.L.D. Operatives confronted the target leaving seven dead and nine injured. This act was committed when he was only age 10 and several assassinations committed years before said incident have been connected to him as well. Reportedly in 2012, Shang-Chi was sent to Kun-Lun to assassinate the previous Sorcerer Supreme, A.R.M.O.R. Threat #110: Dr. Stephen Strange {Deceased}'s assistant Wong. While he was successful in terminating Wong, he found himself imprisoned within the walls of Kun-Lun. He was released from prison after the local monks took pity on him and swore to train him in the ways of righteousness. Shang-Chi was trained to become the new protector of Kun-Lun and the sworn enemy of his father ultimately partaking in the trial of Shou-Lao the Undying and receiving the Iron Fist. As the Immortal Weapon against the Ten Rings and S.H.I.E.L.D. Threat #174: The Hand, Shang-Chi was tasked with defending Kun-Lun from behind its protective walls, but sought to take a more offensive approach similar to his idol and previous Iron Fist wielder, Danny Rand. Leaving Kun-Lun to investigate Hand activity in New York City, Shang-Chi came into contact with several New York-based super-heroes including Luke Cage, Daredevil, Avengers Initiate #5: {Redacted}/Spider-Man, and Avengers Initiate #7: Katherine Elizabeth Bishop/Hawkeye who he aided in driving the Hand out from New York. After ridding New York of the Hand, Shang-Chi found that he enjoyed working alongside his idol's old partner, Luke Cage, and decided to help him establish a hero agency in New York City known as Heroes for Hire. Shang-Chi would then also aid in defending New York from Containment Site-B Inmate #363: Dr. Otto Gunther Octavious/Dr. Octopus and his assault on the city. Shang-Chi has recently agreed to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Consulting Team - 1: The Avengers and in exchange S.H.I.E.L.D. has issued him a full pardon of all his previous crimes.     - S.H.I.E.L.D.
