Healing potion
Healing potions are common and available throughout most of Sildair, though the art of brewing them is not common knowledge, so for most, paying a witch or alchemist for them is the only way to obtain one. Drinking a healing potion will cause bruises to heal and blood to coagulate in open wounds within seconds, and broken bones will begin to mend within minutes. Only injuries are healed, not toxins or infections. The magical means by which the healing occurs is similar to healing spells.
Healing potions are brewed using aetherdrop blossoms, usually by squeezing the juice from the onion-like root of the various types of aetherdrops, and it is also possible to create them using powdered aetherstone, though this is much rarer. In either case, an acidic agent is required, which can be anything from berries to citrus fruit or even wood sorrel. When enough acid is applied to the aether-derived substance, an extreme bitter taste appears, which is usually how the alchemist knows that the healing properties have been activated. Healing potions take the colour of whatever acidic juice is applied, and the common use of red berries is what leads many people to expect all healing potions to be red. Some sellers go so far as to sell their potions in red-tinted glass-bottles, to mask the colour of the liquid.
