The Dawning Epoch

The Dawning Epoch is a period of approximately one thousand years, and the very earliest history of Sildair. It begins with the end of Unura's Winter, a mythological time that is ill defined. It is a period of building - or according to legend, rebuilding - civilization. The people of the Dawning Epoch started out as primitive hunter gatherers and only over time did they begin to establish the kingdoms and empires known in the Silver Epoch.

Following the Dunorian calendar's notation system, the Dawning Epoch is abreviated DE and the years are counted backwards, so for example, the birth of Asgal the Golden is written as "12. Radiance, -108 DE", and is spoken: "The 12th of Radiance in the 108th last year of the Dawning Epoch."
