Yanlei (Jan-LAY)

Yanlei is the god of balance, worshipped almost exclusively in Suihai. It is said that she was a dragon who attempted first to convince the gods not to sunder the world, during the War of Ashes, and when that didn't work, to stop the sundering herself. In so doing, she died, but Rhya cried for her, and as the goddess' tears fell on her, she was reborn as a Qiu, and given divinity. She is said to long for peace and balance between the gods, and the rebirth of the world as it was before the sundering, and as such, she is worshipped mostly by those who reject the schemes and allegiences of the other gods, or those who seek balance, acceptance and tranquility.

There is no totem animal associated with Yanlei, beyond the Qiu itself. Her favored weapon is a quarterstaff. Other symbols of Yanlei are an eye crying a tear, the head of a Qiu, or the Suihanese character for dragon: 虬
