Anais Nese Quinn

As seen in

Anais Quinn, Ms.

Anais Nese Quinn was born and raised in Sitka Cove but left after high school to attend Police College in Ottawa.   She hasn't been back to her hometown since.   Until now.   Due to her mother's refusal to acknowledge anything to do with her Ojibwe/Cheyenne heritage, Anais knows very little about who she is. Anais's mother, Janine Quinn, had no interest in being a mother. She and her daughter have never been close, and as Anais aged, their arguments grew more heated, emotional, and divisive. Janine's sister, Anne Deerchild, became more of a mother figure to young Anais.   Anais has always been curious. Even as a youngster, she would relentlessly question her father and his badge partner about the cases they were working on. So it made perfect sense that she would follow in her father's footsteps and become a cop.    After graduation from Police College, Anais stayed in Ottawa. For 12 years, she served Canada's capital city, investigating all kinds of crime, and locking the bad guys up. Even if they were the politicians making the laws. But Anais' drive, curiosity, and persistence were not appreciated by her superiors, and she was given a choice to either transfer back home to Sitka Cove, or risk an "investigative hearing", and possibly lose her badge.   So she's returned to Sitka Cove and been sworn in as the town's newest Detective by her Godfather. Her father's old badge partner. Her new commanding officer in the Criminal Investigations Unit, Sargeant Bat Rodgers.   Her first case back, she's partnered with a young man who was also born and raised in Sitka Cove, Lorne Winters.   Their first case together is a messy one. A body has been found in the bush outside of town, wrapped around a tree. They've been tasked with finding the killer. But nothing about the case is what it seems, and everything's complicated by the deceased's paranoid code. But what did they have to hide, and why is Anais's mother, Janine, involved?   Detective Anais Quinn has her work cut out for her.
