The mining town of Prosperity is destroyed under mysterious circumstances. Most of the citizens are killed. Whether the destruction was caused by the actions of Prosperity's citizens or Ujik-Hai retribution is unclear.

A strange supernatural event destroys the mining town of Prosperity. Little is understood about this event. Many inhabitants seemingly killed themselves, and still others perished seemingly uninjured.  Most of the citizens are killed. Whether the destruction was caused by the actions of Prosperity's citizens or Ujik-Hai retribution is unclear. Beings known as "Rattlers" may have been involved. It is also possible that and unknown Isawa Inquisitor and Shiba Ryota, AKA Fox Eyes or Soshi Bairei were involved, as was a woman known only as "The Clock-Maker."   Among the few survivors are Shiba "Fox Eyes" Ryota, Soshi Bairei and Akodo O-Shoen. Afterward Ryota and Bairei rose to wealth and prominence, whereas O-Shoen turned to banditry.
