Sase-Anor

The Sase-Anor are a plantlike species of sentient humanoids, with the usual four limbs and head at the end of a neck. They are more closely related to flora than to any animal, many being capable of photosynthesis. They have an outer bark which is somewhat brittle and grows along unbent surfaces on their body. Their origin is mysterious, as they precede the dim veil. However it is almost certain they did not evolve entirely naturally, but rather have been nudged by an outside force along the right path. Some believe this to be a human god, though others find it to be unguided Asaeic influence.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Sase-Anor are humanoid in shape with 4 limbs, a neck and a head. Their bodies are composed of a fibrous wood-like material as opposed to animal cells. These fibers are denser and harder in a skeletal structure which is covered by tender muscle-like tissue. They do not have an outer layer of skin, but their muscles harden and polish in contact with air, forming a rough exterior like bark or a smooth texture like polished wood in areas where the bark is peeled off. The coloration of their wood is dependent on their lineage as well as environmental factors.
The Sase-Anor have mouths but only possess a stomach-like organ which is used to digest any supplementary nutrients they intake, as their photosynthetic processes do not provide enough energy for their mobile lifestyle. They also require proteins, fats, nitrogen, and a number of other minerals. They do not possess individual teeth, but rather a continuous beak-like protrusion of wood on the inside of their mouths.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The same Anor do not have the best eyesight or tactile perception. Their hard skin simply is not adapted to house a large number of receptors. As such, feelings relating to heat are quite numb and only become truly noticeable near temperatures where water is lost exceedingly quick. What they lack in some senses though they make up for in others. Their sense of smell and chemical perception is quite impressive as is their sense of hearing.
