The Conflict

Prelude

For thousands of years, the Angels lives in prosperity and without worries. They had achieved everything that there was to achieve. Illnesses and decay were defeated by superior gene modifications, cybergenic, and well-advanced medicine in general. All heavy work was done by machines or genetically advanced and perfectly fit animals. All there was left to do for an angel of that time was to live, enjoy entertainment, and find new sources of bliss and adventures for eternity.

This blissful life ended with the supernova that destroyed Heaven in 13.999.998.000 BC, billions of years before the Big Bang (13.800.000.000 BC). The supernova destroyed not only the home planet and the capital of the Angel Empire but also a big part of their central systems. In the past, the angels had observed each celestial body and calculated each possible event long before it happened to take counter measurements, but in the lazy and decaying state that the angels entered, they simply missed the sighs.
After the fall of the core sector of the Angel empire, it fell into chaos. With the upper society dead and without a clear government, many sectors declared themselves as the new core of the empire. The civil war that was later known as the War in Heaven began.

Battlefield

The battlefield was the multiverse itself. During the conflict, there was near no place in the material plane that was not affected by it. The fronts moved and galaxy-spanning campaigns left only destruction. There was no end to the battlefield and no place was truly safe forever.

Conditions

The angel society was filled with decadence and bliss-addicted degenerated Angels, who had no feeling left for life, had no feeling for what it meant to feel pain or what suffering was. For thousands of years, they knew only bliss and abundance. As the core sector was destroyed by a supernova, many sectors saw their chance to become the next capital area. Negotiations quickly fell apart and the sectors prepared for war.

Outcome

The formerly angel empire was no more. Most of the population was dead and nearly all planets were devasted tomb worlds with nearly no life. The universes of the multiverses were blank of most complex life forms and for the first time in billions of worlds, there were stars that were not observed by intelligent life, but only ray their light into the darkness of a lifeless emptiness.

After the usage of the Dimension Bombs, most life was lost and for the first time ever, a Goddess was born out of the chaos of the war: Gaia.

Under Gaia's leadership, a new empire was formed, the Fallen Angel Empire. She leads the Conference for Eternal Peace at the end of the war in 13.901.000.000 BC.

Aftermath

Under Gaia the Angels that survived the war gathered in the conference for eternal peace. Never again should an Angel use a weapon against others of their kind and never again should weapons of mass destruction be used. Several actions were done to achieve this goal of the new ruler of all angels.

1. The Dimension Bomb technology was banned and all bombs left were destroyed. Never again should such a weapon be developed and never again should such a weapon be used.
2. A majority of the Angel species willingly took a genetic change to the core identity of their species. They saw no other way to escape the bloodlust that now was part of their core. The only way to escape the spiral of destruction was to change themselves forever. They decided to take the rebirth of one of them as the first goddess as a sign and declared Gaia as the new eternal overlord of their species. Their minds were changed by their genetic code to destroy the will to fight, the lust for destruction, and bloodshed.
3. Angels who still wanted to continue the fights and did not accept Gaia as the new leader were banned into a pocket dimension called Tartarus. The goal was to never let them escape, as they would ignite the flame of eternal war once again.
4. Gaia reformed the angels as a peace-loving race of observers. A big part of themselves and their culture was sacrificed to ensure survival and prevent another war in the future. With the help of the Gaia Seeds, the angels spread new life across the multiverse.

Historical Significance

The war in heaven began with the destruction of Heaven by a supernova. The whole central core sector of the angel empire was destroyed and much life was lost. The remaining sectors lost their central government and after thousands of years of total decadence, all of them thought that they should be the new central sector and be the new government. Negotiations began and unrest spread through the empire. Just one hundred years after the destruction of Heaven, the former empire was engulfed in civil war.
The war knew no two sides, as alliances formed and betrayals were common between former allies. Galaxy-wide campaigns that took millennia to come to an end followed by a counter-campaign of similar lengths soon engulfed all known material dimensions into this never-ending war. The formerly decadent angels become more and more bloodthirsty, and the decay of their technology was replaced by a race for the next big weapon, the next technological step to gain an advancement against the enemy factions in this war. Angels were born and fought millennia in this war, but never saw the end of it.
The war only found an end with the development of the Dimension Bomb in 13.901.000.020 BC. Their usage was only for 20 years and in these 20 years of this billion years conflict, they eradicated 99% of all life in the multiverse. The pure loss of life was too much for the Realm of Souls. The suffering and the amount of Soul energy that flowed back into the realm changed it fundamentally. The formerly peaceful and calm realm became a chaotic mess of powerful but dangerous energy as no soul was able to absorb it anymore. It was just too much and this led to the creation of the Pink Mist.
Gaia, one of the uncountable soldiers in the war was left behind as a dimension bomb was detonated in her universe. She was the first being that entered the soulrealm through a fissure as her universe was destroyed and with her as a target, millions of Lost-Souls tried to possess her. It destroyed the material Gaia and led to her rebirth as the first Goddess. This happened in 13.901.000.001 BC, 19 years after the first dimensional bomb was used. The reborn goddess called all remaining angels to a big conference, which was later known as the Conference for Eternal Peace. Under her guidance, the angels finally ended the war and united under Gaia. All who opposed her and who wanted to continue the war were banished by the new goddess into a pocket dimension called Tartarus.
A majority of the remaining angels modified their genes. The goal was to eliminate all chances of such a war forever. Their minds were changed by their genetic code to destroy the will to fight, the lust for destruction, and bloodshed. Gaia reformed the angels as a peace-loving race of observers. A big part of themselves and their culture was sacrificed to ensure survival and prevent another war in the future. With the end of the war, the last new technology was developed by the angels, the Gaia Seed. With its help, the angels began repopulating the multiverse after this endless war.

Legacy

The Fallen Angel Empire of the Angel species that we know today is a direct result of the war. The War in Heaven was the bloodiest, most cruel war ever fought under the stars. Every Angel knows this story, knows what their forefathers did and due to the longevity of their species, even today there are angels who served in the war and who warn the younger angels from ever feeling the lust for war again. Their whole society is built around preserving life.

Under Gaia, the angels wish to never rule again. New species should emerge and claim the stars for their new empires. The angels would watch and set the rules, but never act if not required for the survival of the galaxies.

Even today, there are an uncountable amount of artifacts left of the war. Dangerous weapons and technology that no other species has ever achieved. Each single of these objects left is powerful enough to emerge new empires or destroy them.

Technological Advancement

During the war, many new weapons were developed. The angel society reawakened and finally, their technology advanced again but in a very dangerous direction. The final weapon was the Dimension Bomb, a weapon that destroys the fabrics of a universe, leading to the death of all life and the destruction of all material in this universe.

The end of the war led also to the last new major technology that the angels ever created, the Gaia Seed. It is a toolkit to create new life and terraform worlds. It was used after the war to repopulate the multiverse.
