Complexes

Every Chimera has a "Complex", this is the animal who's DNA has been merged with the Chimera's through the process of metamorphosis when the The Wallace Gene is triggered. Every individual's Complex will effect them in different ways and to different extents depending on how combatable a Chimera's DNA is with the animal, this variety in the Chimera's human DNA causes great variation between people who have the same complex. For example if two people gain the complex of the Canis lupus (the Grey Wolf) will display different traits with different strengths of their abilities. One Chimera's complex may focus on the enhanced hear, smell and sight of the Grey Wolf showing very few physical traits such as Wolf like eyes or ears while another may focus on the strength, endurance and instincts of a Wolf displaying traits that may be more extreme traits such as large canines, wolf like fur or claws.   A complex can act like a muscle, the more one uses it the stronger it gets and can trigger a post-metamorphosis metamorphosis more commonly referred to as a "Complex Evolution" or simply as "Evolution" which causes the unlocking of new abilities or strengthening current ones. These secondary metamorphic traits are much more variable than primary metamorphic traits, if a Chimera with Ambystoma mexicanum (the Axolotl) complex undergoes evolution they gain the ability to breath underwater through the Axolotl's famous exterior gills however these gills may be able to be an optional feature for the Chimera being able to make them appear and disappear at will. This can not be done with Primary metamorphic traits, these traits are permanent and will regrow, granted the body part can be regrown by a regeneration trait, as the metamorphic trait. If a Chimera with the complex of a Odontodactylus scyllarus (the Peacock Mantis Shrimp) with a claw looses the claw they can regrow it like the Peacock Mantis Shrimp does however is a Chimera with the complex of the Haliaeetus leucocephalus (the Bald Eagle) with wings looses a wing it will not grow back.   No complex is better then another, at least on paper. Just like in the animal kingdom every organism is adapted for their own ecological niche, how an animal fits into their environment. A complex's strength relies on many different factors that can change at a moments notice, an Chimera with a complex of the Loxodonta cyclotis (The African Elephant) maybe an unstoppable juggernaut in large flat areas but when taken out of this favourable situation a more manoeuvrable complex has a better chance at defeating a more physically stronger opponent. However just like in nature just because something could work in theory doesn't mean it will always work out in practice, there are several factors that determine the relative strengths between two complexes such as the training, the will and the creativity of the Chimera but there is one key factor that pushes the balance to one side drastically which is the The Predator-Prey Relationship.
