The Wallace Gene

All those stories you heard as a kid about Werewolves, Centaurs, tekhumiavi's and other human hybrid creatures are true. Not accurate but true, all stories not matter how outlandish have a drop of truth to them and the truth in these stories is that these human-hybrids are real. Within the human genome, the entire genetic material of humanity, exists a gene known as the Metamorphic Homo Animale 37 Gene or more commonly referred to as the "Wallace Gene" which causes the human body to become entangled with that of another animal within close proximity to the target in a process known as metamorphosis. Those who have had the Wallace Gene activated and survive metamorphosis are referred to as "Chimera", it is unknown exactly what triggers the Wallace Gene however the known components are being in a high stress situation and residue of another animal or directly touching another animal. However, there is an unknown component to the transformation.
Chimera always display characteristics of their "Complex", a Chimera's complex is the animal their DNA has been combined with, this can range from something as subtle as a forked tongue, sharper teeth or differnt eyes to much more obvious like wings, exoskeletons or fur. It's increabily rare for a Chimera to be able to fully hide their Complex traits much less have none clearly visible, for this reason those who undergo metamorphosis are seen as freaks and outcasts for their new traits.
Chimera complexes differ in rarity, an Ant complex is rather common so are complexes like city animals, domesticated animals and swarming creatures. While some such as Lions, Marine animals, rare animals and solitary creatures. Chimera trends oftern follow those of the animal, for example insect complexs are far more common than any other followed by mammals, birds, reptiles and then fish. Naturally there are out outliers such as marine mammals or geographically isolated species.

The Franklin Gene

The Franklin Gene is a mutated form of the Wallace Gene and is so rare, as of now, that only one recording of it's existence has ever been confirmed.
While normal Chimera are formed when a human's DNA is mixed with an animals triggered by the Wallace Gene, with the Franklin Gene the DNA exchange is reversed so that the animal's DNA is mixed with that of a human. This results in the death of the human just as it causes the death of the animal in standard Wallace Chimeras. The only known and docuemented example of a Franklin Chimera is Professor C.Poe of the North American Hive located within the modern day country of the United States of America.
