Chimera

Monsters, Abominations and freaks. All common words for Chimera when exposed to humanity, but what is a Chimera? A Chimera is a human who has had their Wallace Gene triggered while being in contact with an Animal or residue from an animal. The DNA of the Animal is then fused with that of the human creating a Chimera and altering the Chimera's appearance into a mixture between human and the DNA donor. The DNA contact required can vary greatly, from direct contact to having ate the creature itself. Chimera come in all shapes and sizes and with a vast variety of Complexes depending on where their from. A chimera could gain the jaw strength of a Crocodylus porosus (Salt Water Crocodile) or the horns of a Bos taurus (Domesticated Bull).
It's unknown how or where the first Chimera appeared, some say it's a cure from a wrathful god while others say it's simply a genetic mutation. The first mention of Chimera in literature comes from Mesopotamia in the form of the Epic of Gilgamesh where within the text mentions the Girtablullû described as Scorpion men, in modern Chimeric terms they would be referred to as having Scorpiones (Scorpion) Complex's. Other famous Chimera are Chiron a trainer of Heroes and named a Centaur, a man with a Equus caballus (Domesticated Horse) Complex, Lycaon the supposed first Werewolf, a man with a Canis lupus (Grey Wolf) Complex and Asterion more famously known as the Minotaur, a man with a Bos taurus complex.
Chimera have always been present since at least the times of Mesopotamia, however as the world grew slowly became more persecuted and hunted going from Gods such as Anubis and Ra to blood thirsty demons such as Lucifer. Eventually the Chimera decided to hide themselves from humanity isolating themselves across the world in hidden cities known as Hives and eventually surpassed modern day technology. While they have made appearances in the outside world to aid they keep to themselves while escorting new Chimera to the hives where they can live a normal life amongst others who understand what it's like to be turned into a monster. However, recently there has been a massive spike in Chimera numbers simultaneously around the world with no warnings causing a massive influx in Chimera. The reason for this spike was a new energy drink known as "Jungle Juice" which caused the The Wallace Gene to be activated, the Hives have done their best to take these new Chimera in, remove any information off the internet and investigate Jungle Juice. Sadly, the producer of Jungle Juice is unknown, the distributor a shell company and the worst part is even analysing the drink hasn't solved the biggest mystery in the Chimeric scientific world, what are the other factors that trigger the Wallace Gene.
When Chimera reproduces with a normal human there is a chance that their child will be born with an already triggered Wallace gene being the same complex as their Chimera parent, however this chance is fairly small being around three out of ten chance. If a chimera reproduces with another Chimera then the child has the chance to inherit either parents Wallace Gene but still has a high chance of being born without a triggered Wallace Gene, when two Chimera have a child there is a four out of ten chance to inherit either parents Wallace Gene and a six out of ten chance to inherit neither.
