Session 11: Viva La Revolution Report

General Summary

The 27th of Embermonth's morning was spent at the chapel and beneath Dunwell.
The party first spent their time interrogating Father Benedictus Trupo and discovered he was not involved with the Abyssal Shadow but that he did receive indulgences and financial support from them. Marcus and Gaius took him below the chapel into the catacombs.
Lavinia questioned the mercenary woman who was guarding the governor's mansion and discovered she was from Nordheim and that she had taken the job out of Alderland to protect Falvus. Her deception worked and Falvus soon met her and Ash at the Chapel. Ash was able to narrowly knock unconscious the merchant and take him to the back to tie up.
Vass, Marcus, and Allesandra went below with the priest and showed him the summoning circle; there, he confessed that he had lost his faith some years ago and had been going through the motions when he lost his sister to a mugging back in his home city of Caelum. They also noticed that the summoning circle had a tiny creature in it, perhaps reforming the demonic creature they had been struggling to defeat since the beginning. Remembering that the Nergalesh promised to return, they grabbed it from the circle and captured it in a trap they had purchased previously. Vass also dispelled the high magic that made up the summoning circle and hellish pillars in the room.
Doing so triggered a vision, from his point of view, seeing the planes of Acheron and a battle between angels and demons where a Demon Lord confronts him named Barzus.
Questioning Falvus Verus and under the suggestion spell, he revealed that he had met Reyes a few years after coming to Dunwell, that he'd come to Dunwell as a punishment for trading with the Turrians during the war. He said to get his hands on gunpowder. That he'd known some of the The Abyssal Shadow during his time in Caelum amongst the elites and said Lavinia's father would know as much as he of it. He met Reyes, who had come from Venesk at the behest of some king from the area. Reyes was looking for a way out, just as Falvus was. The two made a pair, who turned some of the towns, some like Morgana Delphine, against their will, some like the Governor who needed a solution to a problem: his wife's infertility.He mentioned that Reyes was sent to look for a Quill and a Cloak for his master. After these revelations, the two took Falvus, unconscious now, to the underground areas of the Dunwell.
Meeting up in the statue room, the party rejoined and went looking for the items that were said to be one of the goals of Reyes. They found the Aetherscribe Magic Quill, some scrolls and some valuable gems and money in one area, and Lavinia was almost eaten by a mimic in another. They discovered a Cloak of Shadows with the mimic, which Ash took.
The party then found the entrance teased by Falvus Verus: the Government building Headquarters for the Imperium where Ash and Gauis tried to infiltrate to take out the governor. In contrast, the rest of the party left for the Deathwarden's camp.
After killing a serving woman who saw him, Ash made a solid attempt at assassinating the governor but failed to do so before he was able to escape. But during his escape, the governor found and slayed Gauis, who blocked the way. But doing so revealed him, in a final confrontation, Ash was able to duel the governor and kill him. But only after the arrival of the mercenary woman with the plate armor. Who chased, and almost slew Ash in the tunnels beneath Dunwell.
The session ends as Ash gets to the outskirts of Dunwell, inured but alive and free from his persuaders. it is now the evening of the 27 of Embermonth, the rebellion is set on the 29th at Noon.
