The Beast of Diligence (a.k.a. Nouk)
"The Beast of Diligence. Of all the Deities of Vite, Nouk is the one most unlike the others. There is a hint of aggression with the way It goes about Its day. Better than the seeping insidiousness that best characterizes Its foil. Nouk is known for Its survivalism, after all, so any hints of doubt, to It, are a death sentence... though, what is death to a Deity?"
---An entry from Ke'tlan's journal of Solarian Mythos
Divine Symbols & Sigils
The Rounded Pawprint
A fairly simple symbol, this pawprint is supposed to resemble those from Nouk's own hind feet. The pawprint is supposed to resemble tough love: a sense of caring through protection. Sometimes, this kind of love is indifferent of feeling, but it is done with the thought that it will hold important benefits in the end.
The Triquetra
Nouk is said to be the first deity created by Vite-- in contrast to Leviathan, the first one created by Mors. As such, It has an endless knot of Its own, which symbolizes the three necessities: nourishment, shelter, and enrichment. Its Daemonic name refers to repetition [polanovat]; in human Tarot, Nouk's resemblance is on the Strength card.Tenets of Faith
- The best things in life require effort: if something's too good to be true, it's false.
- Make note of all of your experiences: it will prepare you for the inevitable repetition of events.
- Be keenly aware of your environment: if something is the least bit misplaced, you will notice it.
- Survival is more important than feelings: the universe cares not about what you cannot tolerate.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
To test humanity, is Nouk's ultimate goal. How It goes about it is by living Its life as It normally does: putting Its own survival first. Nouk's species, the Nandi, are formidable creatures, with durable skin and razor-sharp claws. It will attack when It believes It has the upper hand, and will retreat when It knows It lacks the advantage. Nouk is vaguely receptive of the concept of death; as It is a Beast, It doesn't linger on the thought at all.
Like Sarin, the Goddess of Decay, Nouk is not one entity, but several. It is said that all Nandi have an interwoven spirit when they reach an age of wisdom. This means that Nouk can appear in multiple places at once, and never truly "dies": were you to kill Nouk, only one aspect of It would die. In order to truly kill Nouk, one would need to make sure to eradicate Its entire species; a difficult task, due to the wide distribution of Nandi on the continent.
